A new royal wedding this week. The Jordanian monarchy, headed by King Abdullah II and from Queen Raniaannounced that the Princess Iman of Jordan and her boyfriend, the Venezuelan venture capitalist Jameel Alexander Thermiotisvotes will be exchanged on Sunday 12 March.
The couple announced their engagement in July 2022, just weeks before Princess Iman’s older brother, the Crown Prince Husaynasked for the hand of his fiancée, Rajwa Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif. Crown Prince Husayn and his radiant betrothed will tie the knot on June 1, in one of the most anticipated high society weddings of 2023.
But the first to pronounce the fateful “yes” will be Princess Iman, 26, second of the four children of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. The princess will marry Thermiotis, who works for a New York venture capital firm, in one ceremony that promises glamorous And luxury in profusion (the mother of the bride, after all, is one of the most elegant sovereigns in the world). While no other details about the ceremony have been announced yet, it’s likely the royal nuptials will take place in Jordanthe country of the bride, or maybe in Venezuelahomeland of the groom.

Rania wrote: “The first time I held my baby I knew my life would never be the same. In a week, she will be a bride. My beloved Iman, I am overjoyed for you and extremely proud of all that you are. Thank you to the tremendous talent of @elissazkh and the genius of @imarwankhoury for this wonderful gift and your amazing ability to render feelings so beautifully.”

Queen Rania was equally thrilled when the couple announced the engagement, last summer. At the time she had written: «Congratulations, dearest Iman: your smile has always been a gift of love that I have kept in my heart since the day of your birth. Wishing you and Jameel a life filled with love and laughter!” The wish was repeated by the crown prince Husayn, who added: “May Allah bless you and bring you together in goodness, Allah willing. Congratulations on the engagement to my dear sister Iman and brother Jameel. I wish you a lifetime of happiness together.”
The two weddings will be the first for the Jordanian royal family since 2020, when the princess Raiyahhalf-sister of King Abdullah, married the British writer Ned Donovannephew of Roald Dahl.
King Abdullah II and Queen Rania are among the foreign royals who could feature on the guest list at thecoronation of King Charles III. The British sovereign is breaking with tradition by inviting other monarchs to the ceremony, even if the names of 2 thousand guests they have not yet been made public.
