Among the Brazilian cities, Guarujá (SP), on the north coast of São Paulo, is among the 15 safest municipalities, according to the report of the Ranking Connected Smart Cities, which analyzes indicators developed by the Urban Systems consultancy.
Public safety analysis encompasses homicide data, traffic deaths, security expense, relationship between police and inhabitants, operations control center and risk areas monitoring.
The data indicated that Guarujá (SP) is in the 12th position of the ranking, ahead of the Federal Capital Brasilia (DF). See the fifteen cities with the best safety indicators:

The public safety analysis of the Connected Smart Cities ranking is composed by six indicators – five on the security axis itself and one in the area of environment. Being 6.0 the highest score, Guarujá (SP) got 4,267.
Other cities of the coast of São Paulo also received prominence in the ranking. These include Santos (26th), Praia Grande (28th), Itanhaém (37th), Bertioga (43º) – all above 3,800 points.
The score considers the homicide indicator with the highest weight (1.5), followed by the monitoring of risk areas (0.5) and 1.0 point is intended for other indicators.
Summer Operation: Fall in theft and increase in prison
Between 2024 and 2025, Operation Summer, which reinforces policing on the coast of São Paulo, recorded 25% of the number of thefts from December 18 to January 31 compared to the same period between 2024/2023.
From December 18 to February 2, the Military Police held 713 people throughout the coast of São Paulo. The index was 33% higher than the 537 arrests held in the same period as the previous edition. Among the arrests, 241 were sought after, an increase of 25% in the analysis of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP).
In addition to the arrests, the folder data showed that the number of motorcycles and recovered cars went from 47 to 91, and drug seizures grew by 9%from 102 to 111 pounds.
Operation Summer had 3,000 military police scattered in the 16 municipalities of the São Paulo coast. Of this total, 2,400 were moved to the southern coast in the cities of Bertioga, Guarujá, Santos, Cubatão, Sao Vicente, Praia Grande, Mongaguá, Itanhaém, Peruíbe, Iguape, Long Island and Cananéia.
