It’s a time of battle for women in the UK. After the protests following the death of Sarah Everard, killed on her way home to a London park, it is now the school that shows itself as an unsafe place for women, indeed a center of abuse and aggression. It was the site Everyone’s invited, All are invited, founded in June 2020 by Soma Sara, a recent graduate of University College London, to bring the case to the fore. Here, the experiences of thousands of people are collected anonymously: the first is that of the creator of the site who shared what happened to her on Instagram last year.
It is a new #metoo, that of the school.
Tell what it was called Rape culture, the culture of rape. The term is strong and brings together all the violence that took place within schools: episodes of misogyny, harassment, discrimination. There are about a hundred schools mentioned on the site and now the police are investigating to understand how widespread these behaviors against women, and not only, are in an environment that should be of maximum protection for young people.
No school – whether an independent school or state school – should ever be an environment where young people feel unsafe, let alone somewhere that sexual abuse can take place.
The allegations that I have heard in recent days are shocking and abhorrent.

According to Education Secretary Gavin Williamson calls the testimonies shocking and horrendous and adds that no school should be a place where young people do not feel safe. The site proves the exact contract as it collects more than 8000 testimonials. The police and the government intend to create a listening and support line for the victims.
The first stories came only from private schools in London, but more have been added from across the UK. There are also public schools.
What do the stories say? Talk about revenge porn, of intimate photos made to turn to blackmail, comments, insults. Many people, this is a fact that has affected public opinion and the police, said that they did not recognize the attitudes as harassment and violence, but that they considered it normal. Alcohol plays an important role in many of the stories: the assaults occur at parties in which one gets drunk.
Even more serious is the fact that they are teachers, in many cases, to say not to report. In one of the testimonies he is told of an album with the naked photos of the classmates who went around the classes. When it was discovered, the immortalized girls were punished, not the creators of the album.
