The Police Station for Assistance to Women of São João de Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, concluded, this Tuesday (19), the investigation that investigated the anesthesiologist Giovanni Quintella Bezerra. He was indicted for rape of a vulnerable person.
According to Civil Police sources, the rape he committed on July 10 lasted 9 minutes and 5 seconds. Police analyzed the 1 hour, 36 minutes and 20 seconds video that was recorded by the medical team at the Hospital da Mulher, in São João de Meriti, where the crime took place. The material was intact and without edits, according to the expertise.
It was possible to conclude that Giovanni began the act 50 seconds after the victim’s husband, who was undergoing a cesarean, left the operating room.
It was also observed that the doctor applied medication to the victim seven times during the criminal action. In addition, the medical-hospital report on material used by the anesthesiologist to clean himself after the rape did not find the presence of semen. However, as the material passed through different containers after collection, it was not possible to guarantee its integrity.
Two drugs were applied to the victim: ketamine and propofol. As the ampoules were broken by use, the expert predicted the possibility of contamination between the vials.
In all, 19 people were heard in the investigation, including police officers, members of the technical/medical staff, the author, the victim and her husband.
The Police Station for Assistance to Women of São João de Meriti continues to investigate Giovanni, now in a second investigation, which investigates another five possible rapes.
At Hospital da Mãe, in Mesquita, also in Baixada, the doctor participated in 44 surgeries. All cases are being analyzed by the delegate responsible for the investigations, Bárbara Lomba.
The Public Ministry of Rio had already denounced Giovanni for rape of a vulnerable person last week and requested secrecy in the process, in addition to compensation to the victim in the minimum amount of 10 minimum wages. The complaint had already been accepted by the Rio de Janeiro justice system.
Giovanni remains imprisoned in an isolated cell in Bangu 8, in the Gericinó Complex, in the West Zone of the Capital. THE CNN continues to try to locate the defendant’s defense.
