Rapid developments in Sweden: Prime Minister Leven has resigned

Ο ΣPrime Minister Stephen Leven says he has resigned, with Parliament Speaker now called for a new prime minister., after the leader of the Social Democrats was defeated in the vote on a motion of censure against him last week.

Leven lost the vote on the motion of censure against him in Parliament on June 21 after the Left Party withdrew its support, sparking furious consultations as the center-left and center-right sought to secure support for a government.

Leven has led a fragile minority alliance with the Greens since 2018 and relied on the support of two small center-right parties and the Left Party to stay in power.

It took Leven four months to form a government after the 2018 elections in which no faction secured autonomy.
