The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas announced today that its political leader, Ismail Haniya, was assassinated in Iran. The same information was made public at the same time by the Revolutionary Guards, an elite body of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic, according to an Iranian media outlet. The Palestinian Islamist movement itself announced the assassination of its leader. In its statement, the movement says it mourns the death of Ismail Haniya in “a treacherous Zionist raid on the property where he lived in Tehran”.
