The UN High Representative for Human Rights, Falker Turks, today demanded that “rapid” and “transparent” investigations be carried out after clashes in southern Syria that caused the deaths of nearly 600 people in a few days. “This bloodshed and this violence must stop and the protection of all people must be the maximum priority, in accordance with international human rights law,” Turkish rights said in a statement. “Independent, rapid and transparent investigations must be conducted for all violations and those responsible for them must be held accountable,” said the High Spokesman, who demands that the Syrian authorities take care of it. “The challenge to violence and the reason for hate, inside and outside the internet, should also stop,” he added.
