Rapper BK’ reaches over 2 million listeners on new album release

One of the greatest exponents of national rap in recent years, the carioca BK’ reached more than 2 million listeners on the day of the release of his new album “ICARUS”.

The disc, which features the participation of other artists on the rise in Brazilian music, such as L7nnon and Marina Sena, was released this week with 13 new tracks. It is the third of unreleased by the rapper, who began his career in 2016.

The release of “ICARUS” was accompanied by a work of art painted in oil and with augmented reality tools by artist Nikolas Demurtas, who produced a reinterpretation of the 17th century canvas, “The Fall of Icarus”, by Jacob Peter Gowy.

The reinterpretation, which puts BK’ in the place of the Greek mythological character the subject of the album, will be on display until this Saturday (19), at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), in Rio de Janeiro.

Departing from human desires and the ambition of the myth of Icarus, the rapper drew contemporary and urban parallels of today’s society – from themes such as insecurity, fears and ego, to racism, poverty and hunger.

BK’ argued that the new record is “about not being fooled by the glitter of things”.

“The motivation can even be legitimate as long as you know how to choose the best path to achieve that purpose. It’s about not forgetting who you are,” she said in a press release.
