The rapporteur of the so-called PEC on Fuels, Fernando Bezerra Coelho (MDB-PE), decided to postpone the presentation of his opinion on the matter to Tuesday (28), informed the parliamentary advisory.
The press conference in which Bezerra would present his report was initially scheduled for the afternoon of this Monday, but the senator chose to take more time “in view of the need to conclude the technical and legal assessments on issues related to the PEC”.
On Friday, he had already advanced that he intended to remove from the original text of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution a provision for financial compensation to States that reduce or eliminate taxes.
The issue raises disagreements with governors. And, faced with the pressure to resolve or at least mitigate the effects of the high fuel prices precisely in an election year, the government and the rapporteur suggest allocating the resources reserved for the PEC to expand benefits –as in the case of Auxílio Brasil and Auxílio Gás– and in the creation of the so-called “truck voucher”.
