Just a few months ago, Rayssa Leal, just 13 years old, went viral on social media for practicing skateboard dressed as a fairy. At first, everyone was delighted with the Brazilian’s abilities and applauded her passion. But in reality, Rayssa was preparing to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
This time, the Olympics included skateboard as a sport and during the women’s competition, two girls of just 13 years old and one of 16 managed to get a medal. This is how this first fair was lived.
The skateboarding became an olympic discipline
During these games more sports disciplines were included and the skateboard it was considered as one of them. Japanese Momiji Nishiya and Brazilian Rayssa Leal, both 13, managed to win the gold and silver medals, respectively, during the first competition.
Both are, so far, the two youngest medalists in these Olympic Games so far.
