Razer’s New Projects Are Interesting But Quite Far-Fetched

Razer is famous for presenting extremely wild ideas and innovative designs at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) every year. However, this time, while one project has still plausible potentials for materialization, the other project is pretty far-fetched!

Project Hazel’s smart, ventilatory, rechargeable mask

The first project that has an actual chance of materialization is Project Hazel’s Smart Mask. This is specially designed to combat COVID-19 and other airborne diseases. Since the coronavirus pandemic is still going on with newer strains of the virus now surfacing and affecting people, it seems that Razer still has a chance to quickly develop these smart masks and launch them in the market soon.

The features are regular and something that is quite expected: A perfectly sealing mask with amazing ventilation, rechargeable ventilatory discs that need sanitization through ultra-violet light, and a charging case that will provide the necessary UV light to sanitize the discs.

Razer claims that the masks will function with bacterial filtration pods that can entrap 95% of airborne microorganisms.

Apart from these mandatory features, Razer is going to add some RGB lights to make them stand out, with the outer covering being transparent to let others see the user’s mouth. The straps are going to be adjustable to ensure a perfect seal around the mouth.

Another interesting aspect is the integration of a microphone in the mask so that the sound of the user may be amplified to let others hear clearly what they want to say. This is going to be good for people who face the difficulty of having inaudible voices that further get muffled because of the masks. However, whether the user will be able to switch the mic on and off as per the requirement and surroundings is still not known.

The mask will also have a good ventilation system to prevent the formation of breath fog for people who wear glasses and face this difficulty while speaking or during cold weather with regular masks and even with the N95 masks.

Razer has not mentioned any price range for this mask, but if it just tones down a little of those RGB lights and other things, these masks may come down at a reasonable price for millions of users to use.

Brooklyn: The gaming chair with an added oomph

This is the second concept that Razer has presented at the CES 2021 and that is so wild that it is not even very appealing to a majority of the people who have heard about it!

Razer has been trying to develop a gaming chair for a while now, and this new design is being touted as the ‘ultimate gamer’s chair!’.

It is supposed to provide all the experiences that a gamer can only dream of while gaming. The chair comes with haptic sensors throughout the chair’s framework, and with arms sets that can turn into a table to allow gamers to play PC games.

Razer is hopeful to continue working on this gaming chair design and it even wants to conduct tests with athletes and gaming influencers to set the bar of expectations really high. The company said that “Project Brooklyn will provide insights on ways to improve user mechanics and design to deliver an immersive gaming experience.”

One of the craziest features of this chair is that it will be supporting a 60-inch curved OLED screen. This screen is going to be foldable, and like a set of wings, it will actually fold into the back of the seat! The visuals are quite weird as of now because the chair apparently looks like sitting on a rocking and rolling big bird! Also, people are wondering if this giant, curved screen will also wiggle as the chair wiggles? That is also not so appealing.

Then, there are going to be LED lights in the chair, which sound to be as useless as the RGB lights in the smart mask of Project Hazel.

Anyway, let us just wait and see if both these projects see the light of the day or just get shelved eventually.
