Reaction of manufacturers to stop payments from the State

A letter of protest for the stoppage of payments in many projects of the NSRF and the Public Investment Program (PDE), was sent by the Panhellenic Association of Technical Companies, to the general secretary of Public Investments and NSRF, Mr. Dimitris Skalkos.

In particular, in his letter SETE states:

“On 22-10-2021 we sent you the relevant letter of protest for the suspension of payments in many projects of the NSRF and the Public Investment program (PDE).

Today, which is already in the last month of the year, the phenomenon has not only not been limited but has been generalized in almost all projects, according to the numerous and strong protests from our member companies, which prove that since the end of October their payments from the EDP to both the co-financed and the purely national part have stopped.

Given that:

a) we are going through the last month of the year where, as usual, many liabilities have accumulated,

b) the contractors are already in a very difficult financial position due to the huge increase in the prices of construction materials, labor and energy, which have been observed in the last 12 months, and with particular intensity in the most recent period;

Y) revision rates have not yet been set to incorporate and compensate for these very large increases in project construction costs;

Most Technical Companies are (without their own responsibility) facing the possibility of not being able to meet their financial obligations (payroll, Christmas Gift, suppliers, subcontractors, tax obligations and insurance contributions).

We note in particular that the Companies have never been informed that they will not be paid according to the approved project schedules and therefore are unable to incorporate such a possibility in their business planning, which according to information is expected to continue at least until the start of the new year.

In any case, we expect immediate information and your actions to address the problem in order not to observe procedures for stopping work and dissolving contracts on an extensive scale “.
