Schools have a responsibility to prepare students for the possibility of war as part of civil protection, says Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Wächinger, which has caused several reactions in Germany. “Society as a whole must properly prepare for crises – from a pandemic to natural disasters and war,” the minister said in an interview with the Funke Group newspapers. “Civil protection is extremely important and has a place in schools.
