The issue in the Turkish media has been the complaint by the opposition that a Greek pilot who works at Turkish Airlines has tattoos of EOKA, the National Organization of Cypriot Fighters.
According to t24.com.tr, the complaint was made by the vice-president of the opposition Republican People’s Party, Ali Oztunds, who stated that a Greek governor with EOKA tattoos works for Turkish Airlines.
Oztuns asked the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure how many foreign governors work at Turkish Airlines and how many of them are Greeks, even asking for clarifications on whether a Greek with an EOKA tattoo also works.
The Minister of Transport did not respond to this question, but only referred to the total number of pilots working in the company.
“According to the records of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, there are 9003 pilots and 176 helicopter pilots in Turkey, of whom 3,419 work for Turkish Airlines,” he said.
