Real extreme: RTX 4090 overclocked to 3.7 GHz, setting a world record

Many gamers treat Chinese video cards with an impressive amount of disdain, although in fact some manufacturers from the Middle Kingdom use better component base and better cooling than big-name brands. For example, yesterday, November 2, enthusiasts managed to set two world records on the GALAX video card at once on the flagship GeForce RTX 4090 HOF video card, which, as it turned out, does not melt the power cable even under impressive loads. And although gamers at home, most likely, will never repeat this, the result is actually impressive.

The first world record that was set on the GALAX GeForce RTX 4090 HOF video card concerns the GPU clock frequency – users from Greece managed to raise this clock frequency to 3705 MHz, thereby taking first place in the top overclocking graphics cards in the world. Of course, to implement such an impressive overclock, the enthusiast had to use a very complex cooling system, which also included liquid nitrogen, but as a result, the overclocker managed to achieve the corresponding bar of 3.7 GHz, completing the GPUPI test in just 49 seconds. In comparison, the reference RTX 4090 completes the same test in 1 minute and 5 seconds, which is 16 seconds longer.

The second record concerns the number of points scored in the popular 3DMark Port Royal OGS benchmark, which is used by overclockers to consolidate their results. There, the overclocker managed to score 31,096 points, which is almost a thousand points more than the previous user in the table. This is probably not the limit of the new graphics chip, so in the near future enthusiasts will more than once overclock the RTX 4090 video card on liquid nitrogen to impressive frequencies for the sake of new world records. For example, the network is already discussing taking a conditional mark of 4.0 GHz, which, theoretically, is quite possible on the current architecture of NVIDIA video cards.

8 out of 10 records set on Intel flagships

And, of course, this is a huge advertisement for Chinese video card manufacturers. In narrow circles of gamers and overclockers, it has long been discussed that well-known brands like MSI or ASUS are inferior to manufacturers from Hong Kong in terms of workmanship, and now that the world record has been set specifically on the GALAX GeForce RTX 4090 HOF model, brands from China should be treated a little better.
