In the third quarter of this year, Chinese smartphone brand Realme saw a significant increase in shipments of 5G models, according to a fresh report from analyst firm Counterpoint Research.
This leap is due to excellent performance in regions such as India, China and Europe. Counterpoint adds that the brand has managed to outstrip absolutely all competitors in terms of growth: sales of Realme smartphones with 5G support grew by 831% year on year, which is well above the global figure of 121%.
Varun Mishra, Senior Director of Counterpoint, noted that “Realme, with its strong multi-channel strategy and broad portfolio of 5G smartphones across all price ranges, has helped it grow faster than the rest.” Realme CEO and Founder Sky Lee added, “Our goal is to help at least 100 million young people around the world reap the benefits of 5G technology.”
Realme is also currently the fifth largest manufacturer of Android smartphones in the world. The overall growth can also be attributed to a strong focus on 5G technology. Realme has invested heavily in 5G smartphone research and development and is also looking to diversify its product line.
Thus, despite being a “young” company compared to the giants, it still managed to gain a total 5G phone market share of 15.5%.
