THE Russian chairman Vladimir Putin may visit next month the Turkey on the occasion of its inauguration nuclear power plant in Akugiou (April 27), the Turkish president said yesterday Wednesday (29/3). Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Mr. Putin may come to Turkey for the inauguration ceremony. Otherwise you may join it online”the president of Turkey said in an interview he gave on Wednesday night to television networks A Haber and ATV.
Erdogan argued that the nuclear power plant in Akuyu is a vital investment for Turkey, since it will upgrade the country’s energy network.
According to the schedule, the first reactor at Akougiou will be commissioned this year and the project is not expected to be completed before 2025.
The construction of the first nuclear power plant in Turkey was agreed in 2010 with a subsidiary of the Russian state company Rosatom. The nuclear plant in the province of Mersin, on Turkey’s southern coast, will have four reactors with a total capacity of 4.8 GW.

In the same interview, Recep Tayyip Erdogan came into conflict with his political opponents in Turkey and more specifically the Meral Aksenerwho requested that the temple that has been converted into a mosque not be opened yet, and others for her “Agia Sophia” as there was allegedly a proposal from the opposition to become part of the museum. “Are we open yet?
