“Ukraine deserves to join NATO, Russia and Ukraine must return to peace talks”the Turkish president said today Recep Tayyip Erdogan after his meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart in Istanbul.
“We will support the reconstruction of Ukraine and continue efforts to end the war through negotiations”he also pointed out.
Erdogan also said he hopes how to extend the agreement that makes it possible to export Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Turkey in August, Erdogan said.

After the face-to-face talks they had at the Vakhdetin Palace, Erdogan and Zelenskiy will have meetings with their delegations to discuss bilateral relations, regional and international issues, including the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war; of the Black Sea grain agreement due to expire on 17 July and ensuring peace and stability in the Black Sea region.
Based on this agreement, more than 32 tons of grain are transported to people in needaccording to Turkish officials.
After the meeting, Erdogan and Zelensky said the negotiations were “very important.”
Volodymyr Zelensky via Twitter said that they negotiated security in the Black Sea region, but also security in general in the European area. “I am grateful for the support I received for our territorial integrity and sovereignty, for the formula for Peace. We talked about the protection of our countries and our people”. In addition, he said that he will discuss with Erdogan separately the issue of Ukrainian grain exports from the Black Sea.
