The city of Recife, capital of Pernambuco, will have a special program for this year's Carnival. Around 300 shows are planned in the city.

Among those confirmed are Gilberto Gil, Ludmilla, Vanessa da Mata, Luiza Sonza, Thiaguinho, Dilsinho, Matuê, Pitty, Paralamas do Sucesso, Alceu Valença, Elba Ramalho, Fafá de Belém, Jorge Aragão and Rubel.

Shows always start at 3pm. Of the 19 centers that host the shows, six are dedicated to children, in the parks Macaxeira, Dona Lindu, Graças, Jaqueira, Santana and Rua da Aurora.

In total, Recife Carnival will have more than 3,000 attractions in 49 different centers in the capital over the six days of festivities. In street Carnival, there are 1,389 blocks and boxes registered with the city hall.

In an interview with CNN Marcelo Canuto, president of the Recife City Culture Foundation, said that the estimated audience is almost 3 million people.

In the economy, the city expects a turnover of R$2.5 billion. Canuto states that air transport companies will make 100 extra flights during the festivities. “Carnival for Recife is very strategic, both from an economic and cultural point of view.”

The program attracts many tourists, who already occupy a large part of Recife. Recent data from the Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry in Pernambuco (ABIH-PE) shows that hotels in the capital of Pernambuco already have 96% of their accommodations booked for the festive season.

With the increase in movement in the capital, the city of Recife placed over 400 professionals on the streets, including agents and traffic advisors, as well as transport service monitors, to facilitate the movement of revelers.

For those who want to go by bus, there is the Expresso Folia for Carnival days. The ticket costs R$18 and is valid for the return trip.

For those who prefer to take a taxi, the expectation is that the fleet of cars will increase by 50% to offer a more agile service to revelers.
