A new action to deliver mobile phones recovered from theft and theft It will be held between Tuesday (1) and Friday (4) by the Government of Amazonas through the Recoperafone Program, at the headquarters of the Center for Research and Recovery of Cell Phones (NIRC), in Manaus.
The initiative organized through the Public Security Secretariat (SSP-AM) guarantees the return of apparatus registered in the project. A list was released last Friday (28) with the names of the owners who had the recovered devices .
Citizens listed in the notice must attend the NIRC headquarters with an original identification document and some proof of possession of the device, such as invoice, device cashier or the occurrence report registered after theft or theft.
How the program works
The recovery was launched in September 2024 and has returned 1,850 cell phones to its owners out of a total of 4,000 recovered devices. The initiative crosses information on occurrence bulletins with the device IMEI through specialized software.
When a restricted device is identified, the police contact the user via WhatsApp from SSP-AM to arrange the return.
The program aims to reduce the rates of theft and theft of cell phones in the state following a model implemented in PiauÃ, where there was a 60% drop in cell phones.
The goal of SSP-AM is to reach a reduction of up to 90% in the coming years.
How to denounce and recover a stolen cell phone:
- Register a report in person in an Integrated Police District (DIP) or via virtual police station;
- Enter the phone’s IMEI in the police report;
- Wait for police contact if the device is recovered;
- The NIRC is located at SSP-AM headquarters, at Avenida Arquitet José Henrique Bento Rodrigues, Monte das Oliveiras, at Shopping Via Norte.
