Record number of coronavirus deaths in one day in India, the highest number since January

Another 212 deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours India has announced, the highest number since January.

During the same period, 46,951 SARS-CoV-2 infections were confirmed, most since the beginning of November 2020.

Concern in the country about the possibility of facing a new wave of the new coronavirus pandemic is growing, as noted by AMPE.

To date, the India has recorded 159,967 deaths out of a total of 11.65 million infections. It is the fourth heaviest casualty and the second highest number of cases in the world.

The current number of cases is, for the sixth consecutive day, the highest recorded this year.

India launched a mass immunization campaign in January, with over 45 million people have received at least one dose of their vaccine so far. Authorities want 300 million of the 1.35 billion people to have been vaccinated by August.
