There is an air of home in the twelfth album by Red Hot Chili Pepperswho find not only Rick Rubin as a producer but, above all, John Frusciante on guitar, ready to return with the band that launched his career where it all began, sixteen years after the last time. The album is called Unlimited Love and, as Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and Frusciante themselves explained, it is nothing more than a piece of them, a small light capable of uniting very different people from all over the world at a time when war and disintegration seem to be part of a cold and invisible code of behavior. In this very human facet which has life as its mission, the Red Hot Chili Peppers ride the wave of existence letting themselves be carried away by the current, from the alignment of the planets and from the will, far from obvious, to continue to grow and improve, to look around and intercept all the suggestions capable of telling something new, fresh, unpredictable.
“Our only goal is to get lost in music”, they say, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, ready to give the world the sounds, rhythms, vibrations, words and melodies that have captivated them. “When we started writing material, we started playing old songs by artists like Johnny” Guitar “Watson, The Kinks, The New York Dolls, Richard Barrett and others. So gradually, we started bringing new ideas and turning jam sessions into songs, and after a couple of months what we were playing was the new material “, said Frusciante who, together with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, started from emulation to get to innovation and the creation of something that has its roots in the past while spreading its branches towards the future. A song like Black Summer enhances the hypnotic rhythm of the drums; one like Here ever After play with the bass; another like There Are The Ways focuses on the deadly combo of guitar and voice: in practice, it is like Unlimited Love was a mapping of the musical knowledgean anatomy manual in which each song illuminates a peculiarity and a nuance that the Red Hot Chili Peppers have always tried to tell, uniting four souls through a friendship that seems to have something sacred and even unbreakable.
Everything in the album harmonizes and fits together like the pieces of a puzzle: from the percussion of Whatchu thinkin ‘ to the analog synth choir of Bastards of Light; from the pushed funk of One Way Traffic to the trumpet of Let ‘Em Cry. The result, we said, are the Red Hot Chili Peppers raised to the fourth, charged not only for the release of the album, but also for a world tour that will count several guests – including, St. Vincent, A $ AP Rocky, Beck , HAIM, King Princess, The Strokes and Thundercat – to then arrive in Italy on June 18, at Firenze Rock. Meanwhile, fans eagerly awaiting their return flock to the 24 shops open at midnight on the night of March 31 to be the first to squeeze.
