Reddit developers are implementing Arbitrum roll-ups to scale the community token system. Once deployed on the Rinkeby testnet, it will launch on the Ethereum mainnet.
The Reddit development team has announced that it will use Ethereum’s second-tier Arbitrum solution to scale the Moons and Bricks token system.
“We are scaling the tokens of the Reddit community with Arbitrum! Today we are launching a new Ethereum tier 2 roll-up using Arbitrum technology. We will test at Rinkeby before deploying the solution to the Ethereum mainnet, ”the Reddit administration said.
Arbitrum is one of several rollups currently being developed for Ethereum. These are second-tier solutions that process and store transaction data on the sidechain before bundling the transaction bundles into the Ethereum mainnet. Ethereum developers hope to address high fees with short-term roll-ups and sharding after Ethereum 2.0 is fully deployed.
Reddit is initially deploying Arbitrum on the Rinkeby testnet and plans to move the solution to the Ethereum mainnet in the future if all goes according to plan. The integration should speed up Moons and Bricks token transactions and lower gas fees.
“You will notice that transactions are much faster and once you create a Vault, you no longer have to submit a Moons / Bricks request every month. They’ll just appear in your Vault like magic! ”- explain the developers of Reddit.
While other scaling solutions for Ethereum are under development, such as Optimistic Rollups and ZK-Rollups, the Reddit team believes Arbitrum is “the most promising scaling technology for Community Points”. Among the main advantages of Arbitrum, the Reddit team highlighted decentralization, convenience for developers and broad ecosystem support.
“Today’s launch is a big step forward, but our work is far from complete. Our goal is to bridge the chasm for mass adoption and attract millions of users to the blockchain industry, ”concluded the developers of Reddit.
As a reminder, in January, a Reddit employee known by the pseudonym jarins announced a partnership between the company and the Ethereum Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the development and development of Ethereum.
