Reddit user regains access to his BTC for $ 4 million

On the popular Internet forum Reddit, there was a story of a user who restored the keys to a Bitcoin wallet, which has stored 127 BTC since 2011.

A user under the pseudonym BitcoinHolderThankU (obviously, this is a temporary account), wrote that on December 22, he was able to recover the keys to the wallet with 127 BTC. Without thinking twice, he sold all the received coins:

“For about a week, I have been looking for an opportunity to safely and reliably sell such more BTC and do it with minimal costs. I researched different OTC markets and ended up selling all 127 bitcoins at $ 33,439.02 per coin and paid a 0.15% commission. Overall, I received $ 4.24 million. ”

According to BitcoinHolderThankU, he received the coins in 2011 or 2012 for “completing various surveys, watching promotional videos and performing various tasks.” He also spent bitcoins to buy in-game currency in the online game DarkOrbit.

The user noted that he did not lose the keys in the full sense of the word – they were stored in a file on the old computer, so they were restored without any problems. The lucky man is not going to thoughtlessly spend his unexpectedly dumped wealth – he plans to invest most of his funds in the S & P500 stock index.

“I don’t want to end up like some lottery winners who spend all their money for months or years … I plan to live the same way as before,” concluded a Reddit user.

Recall that on January 8, the rate of the first cryptocurrency exceeded $ 41,000, so a Reddit user could get about $ 1 million more. However, on January 11, Bitcoin fell by 17% to $ 34,000.
