Reducing social benefits for immigrants in order to limit the flow is proposed by the Minister of Justice Marco Busman

The limitation of social benefits to immigrants who arrive in Germany through other member states of the European Union, is proposed by the Federal Minister of Justice, Marco Bussmann, as a measure to control the flow of immigrants to his country. “One cannot not want to return and expect to live off the solidarity of the people here,” Mr Bussmann told Welt am Sonntag, while admitting that “the measure is controversial”. “However, we must continue to examine the factors that are currently attracting too many people to us through irregular means”, the minister emphasized and added that, according to the Dublin Regulation, the responsible for a refugee in the EU is the member state from which entered. “But many are still coming to Germany and I think we could therefore cut social benefits and only finance the return flight.” It is clear, he continued, that social support attracts people to Germany.
