This Friday (2) the reduction of 7.08% in the price of type A gasoline sold to distributors begins to take effect, as announced by Petrobras on Thursday. Now, the price goes from R$ 3.53 to R$ 3.28 per liter.
At the pumps, Petrobras’ share will rise from R$ 2.57, on average, to R$ 2.39 per liter, considering that the gasoline sold at the stations has 27% anhydrous ethanol in its composition.
This is the oil company’s fourth consecutive cut in less than two months, in line with the policy of international price parity and the fluctuation in the price of a barrel of oil.
In a note, the company stated that the “reduction follows the evolution of reference prices and is consistent with Petrobras’ pricing practice, which seeks to balance its prices with the market, but without passing on to domestic prices the conjunctural volatility international quotations and the exchange rate”.
Data from the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANP), released on Saturday (27), have indicated successive drops in the average price of gasoline sold at gas stations.
In the week ended on August 27, fuel was traded, on average, at R$5.25 per liter – the lowest value since February 2021.
According to analysts, the 2.27% drop in consumer prices seen last week, the ninth in a row as announced by the ANP, is a reflection of two main factors: the reduction in prices charged by Petrobras in the transfer to distributors and the of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) levied on the product.
The tax reduction was sanctioned at the end of June by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), in a bill that provides for a ceiling on the ICMS rate between 17% and 18%. By the beginning of July, all 26 states of the Union and the Federal District were already in compliance with the measure.
