At 12 the turnout national at the five abrogative referendums stood at 7.4%. It is voted today until 11pm and tomorrow, Monday 9 June, from 7 to 15
The partial data show a uneven participation: Emilia-Romagna over 10%, Milan around 9%, Campania at 5.8%, with Sicily and Calabria below 5%. In Naples, the turnout at noon was 7.5%.
In addition to the referendum, we also vote for the ballots in thirteen municipalities, including Perugia, Taranto and Matera, and for the first round of the administrative ones in seven cities of Sardinia. For these consultations, the turnout at 12 stood at 11.88%, decreasing compared to the first round.
In Rome, Elly Schlein voted in the Testaccio district. Giuseppe Conte also did so, who recalled the value of the referendum as a constitutional tool. Riccardo Magi, promoter of the question about citizenship, spoke of “a precious day for democracy”. Nicola Fratoianni reported an episode in a seat in Foligno, where access to a television crew would have been denied.
The results will be disclosed after closing of the seats on Monday, on the other’s scrutiny. The validity of the referendums is linked to the achievement of the quorum, set at 50% plus one of the entities.
