Regé-Jean Page, the Duke of Bridgerton: “My first and greatest love”

Regé-Jean Page she knows perfectly well that she is attractive. And he manages to make even a spoon sexy, to which an Instagram profile has also been dedicated by the way. Power of the Bridgerton? Absolutely yes! The event series of Netflix garnered 63 million views in two weeks, making it the fifth most viewed original production on the platform.

During the meeting on Zoom, however, the day before speaking with Phoebe Dynevor aka Phoebe (the full interview here), the interpreter of Simon, Duke of Hastings, he still did not know that he would become a star at Christmas.

All thanks to Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy): she turns everything she touches into gold, like King Midas, and specifically transforms complete strangers into sex symbols, as Doctor Strangelove Patrick Dempsey knows, who after the success of the Eighties was ended up in oblivion before putting on Derek Sheperd’s smock.

Today it is even said that Regé-Jean Page could become the next James Bond. The web is so greedy for his photos that it has found a frame of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 in which he is glimpsed next to Hermione / Emma Watson at Bill Weasley’s wedding to Fleur.

A couple of weeks before the duke-mania broke out, then, when Vanity met him – even if unfortunately they are in virtual version – all this had not yet happened and the 31-year-old English actor with Zimbabwean origins was still fidgeting in the armchair of the his room, not exactly casual. “Is the interview video?” He asks immediately after the customary greetings. When he is reassured not, then he calms down, heaves a sigh of relief and almost collapses. The tension, you can clearly see, is all on her shoulders: for twenty years Julia Quinn’s readers have been waiting to give a face to the romantic protagonist of The Duke and I (Oscar Bestseller Mondadori), who made them dream so much with their eyes opened, page after page, in the opening novel of the saga.

Seeing him like this, in a very simple black turtleneck and a hint of a beard, he looks more like a kid than his alter ego, but certainly no less apprehensive about the role than waiting for him. On the other hand, meeting such high expectations of perfection doesn’t have to be easy.
