Halkidiki and Pieria remain at the top of the preferences of Israeli tourists, as was found out during the participation of the Region of Central Macedonia in the international tourism exhibition IMTM that took place a few days ago in Tel Aviv, Israel.

According to the Region, the specific tourist market prefers the sun-sea model, while there was a great demand for the thematic tourism of Central Macedonia that concerns the natural landscapes, the traditional settlements, the hiking and walking paths, as well as the wine routes. and the wineries to be visited in the area, thus expanding the traffic to autumn and spring.

After all, Israeli travel agents and the public have shown great interest in the city of Thessaloniki, which they want to get to know even better, given the strong historical ties that connect them with the region, but also their strong interest in culture. The city has also been established as a popular city break destination, while a significant advantage for attracting Israeli tourists to Central Macedonia is the existence of direct air connections between Thessaloniki and Tel Aviv throughout the year.

During the exhibition, representatives of the Region of Central Macedonia met with an Israeli television production aimed at further promoting and promoting the region of Central Macedonia, while the regional pavilion hosted representatives of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau dealing with , as well as local tourism professionals. Alexandros Thanos, the Deputy Regional Head of Tourism, described the Israeli market as a dynamic and stable opening in the Middle East.
