Regions, new colors and extensions: what changes and when

The ban on travel between regions, which expires on February 25, will in all likelihood be extended. Maybe even after 5 March, the date on which the rules foreseen by the Dpcm currently in force will expire. The pressure of the three variants (English, Brazilian and South African) of the virus present in our country is still too high and the line that the new government, led by Mario Draghi, it is that of “rigor”. The priority is to safeguard health and not penalize activities.

For this reason, the color system, divided into three bands: yellow, orange and red, will be maintained. Today Campania, Emilia-Romagna and Molise, where the municipalities of Lower Molise are in the red band until 7 March, pass from the yellow to the orange zone (here you can move freely only within your own municipality; it is allowed to go outside only for work, health or needy reasons), the same already for Umbria, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Liguria and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano. All the others remain yellow. In each band, the movements between regions are allowed only for work needs, situations of necessity or health reasons at least.

Different presidents of the regions do not support the hypothesis of an orange zone extended to all of Italy, who wish to maintain the different color bands but with a “longer breath” with respect to the scope of the measures. From the new government, presidents expect greater confrontation and ready communications and therefore greater efficiency of the whole machine at work in response to the pandemic.

More speed in vaccines. This is certainly the unanimous cry of the regions, especially in light of the latest cut of 15% of the doses announced in these hours by AstraZeneca. “We need a decisive change of pace in the vaccination campaign and for economic recovery”. And the president of the conference of the Regions Stefano Bonaccini underlines: “It is necessary that the measures be known well in advance and promptly by citizens and businesses”.
