The Mail.ru mail service team has announced the launch of a new useful feature designed to improve user security.

The updated anti-fraud system for additional protection of users adds a special mark “green shield” for letters from reliable senders.

Messages from trusted major services are highlighted with a special icon and color in the web version: VK and Mail.ru, the State Services portal, the Federal Tax Service, popular banks and large retailers. Subsequently, the list is planned to expand. Thus, if a user receives a letter offering to change the password from the State Services, open a bank deposit or receive a discount from the store, he will be able to determine its authenticity at a glance.

Ivan Myzdrikov, head of the Mail.ru business unit, noted:
Although phishing emails make up a small proportion of the total amount of spam, they cause the most serious damage to users and services. Fraudulent emails are often disguised as notifications from government services, banks and stores, so these services were the first to pass our test. The “trusted sender” mark is an additional guarantee that the message came from a verified source and can be trusted.”
