The 2023 Oscar is already this week, but there are those who still haven’t overcome the last ceremony – which still generates comments in the media and social networks. This year the ceremony gained a crisis team to avoid problems.
Maybe you don’t remember who was the big winner that night, but you certainly remember the slap given by Will Smith to Chris Rock.
Will Smith even won his first Academy Award for Best Actor for “King Richard: Creating Champions” – a fact that few remember after he starred in the scene that marked the ceremony.
The assault occurred during Chris Rock’s presentation of the Best Documentary category, when the comedian made a joke about the shaved head of Jada Pinkett Smith, wife of the actor.
Smith apologized and said he regretted the act, however, Rock seems to still have hard feelings.
This week, Chris Rock made the first live on the Netflix streaming platform. In it, he recalled the aggression and provoked the actor.
“I’ve loved Will Smith all my life. I rooted for Will Smith my whole life… now I watch ‘Emancipation’ just to see him get beaten up,” he said.
The actor plays an enslaved man in the period drama released in 2022.
Another comedian who suffered that night was Amy Schumer.

Co-host of the ceremony, she prepared some jokes for the main movie night, however, they were not well received by the public – in particular one aimed at Kirsten Dunst .
During an interaction with the actress, who was up for Best Supporting Actress for “Attack of the Dogs,” Schumer called her a “seat filler” and asked her to get up so she could sit next to him. Jesse Plemons which was also competing for the award in the male category.
Plemons chimed in and said, “You know she’s my wife, right?”
Some people didn’t like the joke and criticized the artist on social media. After the ceremony, she clarified that it was all arranged and pointed out that she would never disrespect Dunst.
Later, Schumer revealed in an interview that he even received death threats because of the comment.
Other subjects that marked the Oscar 2022 were Covid-19, which interrupted the traditional molds of the event in previous years, and the war in Ukraine. The Academy and those attending the ceremony showed support for the country invaded by Russia.
What to expect from the 2023 Oscars

With this, if something out of the plans happens, the Academy will know who to designate quickly to solve the problem. In addition, the team studied several possible scenarios.
The President of the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Bill Kramer revealed the news in an interview with Time magazine.
During a stand-up show, Chris Rock revealed that he turned down an invitation to host this year’s ceremony. With that, the comedian and presenter Jimmy Kimmel was selected by the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
It is already known that Will Smith will not attend the 2022 Oscars, since he left the Academy last year and, therefore, cannot attend any event promoted by the entity.
Among the personalities who confirmed their presence and will take the stage to present the winners are: emily blunt , Jennifer Connelly , Jonathan Majors , Glenn Close Michael B. Jordan, Melissa McCarthy , Riz Ahmed , Samuel L. Jackson and more.
