Remote sensing of the Earth in two bands: an application for an advanced patent has been filed in Russia

Today, June 25, the Russian Progress Rocket and Space Center (part of the state corporation Roscosmos) filed a very interesting patent application, the documentation of which describes an advanced system for remote sensing of the Earth – about this with reference to the Federal Institute of Industrial Property TASS news outlet reported. The description of the patent application states that the latest system will be able to observe the planet in two bands – optical and infrared.

“Rocket-space system for highly detailed remote sensing of the Earth in the visible and (or) infrared range of observation,” is a description from a patent application.

In addition, specialists of the RCC “Progress” described the design of the new system and the features of its operation. For example, the patent application documentation states that the latest system includes both a launch vehicle that will deliver the necessary equipment into orbit, and the spacecraft itself, which is necessary for observing the planet Earth. As a result, according to the description of the patent, the Russian satellite device will be able to be placed perpendicular to the plane of the Earth’s orbit.

It is worth recalling that at the moment the Aist-2D satellite, which was also developed by engineers of the Progress Rocket and Space Center, is already in orbit around the Earth – in the normal mode, the cameras of the spacecraft are directed to the target planet for remote sensing of the Earth. If necessary, if scientists need to study other celestial bodies, the orientation of the apparatus is changed.
