“Removing economic sanctions is the key to stability in Syria” says the country’s Foreign Minister from Davos

The foreign minister of Syria’s transitional government said today that lifting economic sanctions imposed on Damascus under the presidency of Bashar al-Assad is the “key” to stability in the war-torn country. Assad al-Shibani took part in a discussion with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, a month after the Assad regime was toppled by an alliance of Islamist rebels.
