Renan Quinalha, CNN Specialist in Diversity and Human Rights, spoke this Saturday (4th) about the importance of June for the LGBTQIA+ community.
“The LGBTQIA+ movement already existed in the United States and other parts of the world, but with the Stonewall Uprising – in June 1969 – a lot changes. The shame of identifying as a member of the community gives way to pride”, said Renan.
According to the expert, from the episode that took place in the US, several activist groups for the LGBTQIA+ cause emerged, claiming a fairer and more equal treatment for members of the community.
“June is a time not only of celebration and celebration, but also of remembering this historic struggle that was fought and that needs to be continued in the present so that we can have a reality of full citizenship for the LBGQTIA+ population”, concluded Renan.
