Today, September 6, Renault has officially unveiled the new Megane called the E-Tech Electric, a completely new vehicle that has little to do with the previous lineup. The electric crossover is based on the CMF-EV platform, on which the Nissan Ariya is built, and the choice of potential buyers will be offered two configuration options. In the basic version, the Megane E-Tech Electric comes with a power plant with a capacity of 130 horsepower at 250 Nm of torque, while in the top one it is already 218 horses at 300 Nm. True, the crossover cannot be called particularly sharp – it accelerates from zero to hundreds in 7.4 seconds.
For ICE models this is quite normal, but electric cars usually accelerate much faster. And the top speed of 160 km / h indicates that the novelty is a classic city car. The manufacturer also provides a choice of two rechargeable batteries – the base 40 kW * hour allows you to drive 300 kilometers on a single charge, in the top configuration you can take a 60 kW * hour battery with a power reserve of 470 kilometers. Moreover, the manufacturer has implemented a very fast charging – at maximum power, the car can be charged in just 30 minutes. At home, the car charges up to 400 kilometers per night.
The body of the car also attracts attention – there are no sharp edges, the headlights are presented in the form of a horizontal elongated strip, and, of course, they refused from the radiator grill. At launch, there will be five body colors to choose from, plus the aerodynamic elements can be painted in Warm Titanium gold. Inside, the electric car, as expected, is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 9-inch touchscreen display for controlling the multimedia system. The operating system is R-Link (based on Android), a lot of applications and services are supported.
Renault said that the assembly of the serial Megane E-Tech Electric will begin in 2021, but they have not yet announced the start of sales. And the manufacturer does not plan to abandon the usual Megane on the internal combustion engine either.
