Renesas has its second generation ClockMatrix network synchronizers and jitter attenuators ready for optical and wired networks

Renesas Electronics introduced the ClockMatrix 2 family of chips – high-performance and accurate multichannel synchronizers for 400 and 800 Gbit / s optical transport and wired network applications. Building on ClockMatrix devices introduced in 2019 for 5G wireless and 100/200 Gbps wired applications, the second generation family features improved performance.

The precision clock source is six-channel. It supports several standards and protocols, including Synchronous Ethernet (Sync-E) and IEEE1588. The high degree of integration reduces design complexity and component inventory because all functions required to implement IEEE1588 with jitter mitigation and synchronous Ethernet PHY up to 112 Gbps PAM-4 data rates are performed on-board. The advantages of the new microcircuits include compliance with the recommendations for telecommunication timing signals G.8262.1 and G.8262, as well as for the time accuracy of G.8273.2 class C and class D.

The ClockMatrix 2 system clock can be combined with other Renesas solutions, including 200/400/800 Gbps switches, analog signal processing circuits and power controllers. The first model in the series, the RC32614A, is already available.
