Report points out the death of Marília Mendonça due to polytrauma

The Civil Police found that singer Marília Mendonça died of blunt polytrauma during a plane crash, which also killed four other people on November 5th, says the report presented on Thursday (25).

Death from multiple trauma, like that of Marília Mendonça, is seen in cases where death is caused by more than one injury with a fatal impact.

“All the tests came back negative for other factors that could have contributed to the death,” said Thales Bitencourt, medical examiner and head of the Civil Police’s superintendency of judicial police.

The examinations carried out by the authorities at the Legal Medical Institute of Belo Horizonte also point to death from traumatic injuries for all victims of the accident.

According to the head of the superintendence, tests of alcohol content and toxicological tests were also carried out, which found “no substance consumption, any type of intoxication that could contribute to the deaths”, he said.

The regional delegate of the Civil Police of Minas Gerais, Ivan Sales, said that the reports also rule out a possible death due to a pre-existing illness of the pilot that could have caused the accident. The hypothesis that the plane was hit by a firearm projectile was also discarded.

“We can infer that the aircraft had no problem, but that we will only be sure with the report from Cenipa (Centre for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents) about the aircraft”, he completes.
