A journalist for the Kenyan news channel KBC was interrupted by a curious baby elephant, who used its trunk to inspect the reporter during recording.
“I felt the trunk tickling, but I tried to stay calm,” said Alvin Patterson Kaunda.
In the images, Kindani, the 4-year-old baby elephant, appears using his trunk to touch the head and face of the journalist, who could not contain his laughter.
The animal is part of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation center for elephants and rhinos in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
The video was shared on the rehabilitation center’s official Instagram account.
Even with the interruption by the friendly elephant, Kaunda managed to get the message across. “Human actions are destroying habitats, decimating our entire ecosystem and interrupting the cycle of life,” said the reporter in the video.
“Under mounting cases of drought, it is up to us to be guardians of our own natural world, save our only species and provide a home.”
