Reports of renewed fighting in Khartoum despite ceasefire

THE truce of a week between the military and paramilitariesof the two warring sides in Sudan to control power officially came into effect today, after more than five weeks of war, a thousand dead and more than a million displaced and refugees.

It is not clear at the moment if the truce is what it is aimed at to allow the passage of civilians and humanitarian aid was actually implemented on the ground, as the fighting, mainly in Khartoum and Ntarfur (west) usually subsides at night. During the day, the UN spoke of “fighting and troop movements”.

Residents of its northeastern suburbs Khartoum reported tonight, according to the Athens News Agency, fighting after the agreed ceasefire between the troops of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces of General Hamdan Daglo.
