A repossession mobilizes approximately 150 military police in a building in the North of São Paulo, this Tuesday (10).
The police provides support to Justice after the decision to take action in a building on Rua Voluntários da Pátria, 257.
According to the Military Police, the building is occupied by members of the Frente de Luta por Moradia (FLM) movement. The PM reported that the UniSant’Anna University Center operated in the building.
The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) informs that the action takes place in peaceful way on site, still in progress.
São Paulo City Hall confirmed the action and informed that has been following the occupation for around two years. Read the statement below.
“The City of São Paulo informs that the property located on Rua Voluntários da Pátria, in Santana, north of the city, is private. The Municipal Secretariat for Social Assistance and Development (SMADS) has been monitoring the occupation for approximately two years, through the Santana Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS), offering social assistance and basic food baskets, for example.
Last Monday (9), due to the call for repossession, teams from the Santana Social Assistance Supervision (SAS) returned to the location to make a new offer of reception and updating in the Single Registry, but were refused by the residents. . The CRAS and POP Center teams in the territory are available to families who need shelter.”
