Representatives of Iran withdrew from the UN Climate Conference because of Israel’s presence

Today, the representatives of Iran left the UN Climate Conference (COP28), taking place in the United Arab Emirates. Iranian state media reported that the representatives had left to protest the presence of an Israeli delegation.

Iranians consider Israel’s presence at COP28 “contrary to the goals and guidelines of the conference and, in protest, they left the conference venue,” said the head of the Iranian delegation, Energy Minister Ali Akbar Merabian, according to Irna. According to APE – MEP, earlier the agency had broadcast that Iranian President Ebrahim Raishi will not go to COP28 because Israel has been invited.
