Marcos Roberto de Almeida, the Tuta, CCP leader and appointed as Marcola’s replacement at the faction, was arrested on Friday afternoon (16) in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. The arrest took place in Bolivia.
Tuta was responsible, according to the São Paulo Public Prosecution Service, for planning the rescue of other CCP leaders in Brazil’s arrests and planning the death of authorities investigating the faction.
According to the Federal Police, who carried out the operation in conjunction with the Bolivian police, the arrest took place for the use of false document. According to the PF, “the first steps indicate that man can be one of the main articulators of an international money laundering scheme linked to a criminal organization.”
Tuta was convicted in February 2024 together with other members of the CCP, to more than 12 years in prison for moving, according to the Paulista MP, about $ 1 billion for the criminal organization between 2018 and 2019.

The investigation also pointed out that Tuta “is suspected of being responsible for the escape plans of the faction leaders in prison in federal prisons, as well as leading plans to murder agents and public authorities in retaliation to transfers and actions against the organization’s summit.”
“In practice, Marcos Roberto succeeded Marcola, incommunicado after a decision made in the request of Gaeco, as the main leadership and agent of the faction,” said the São Paulo Public Prosecutor at the time.
