Rescue work is still in progress, says governor of MG

The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), posted a message on social networks this Saturday (8) about the accident in Capitólio (MG).

A large boulder collapsed into a canyon on three speedboats and at least one person died.

“Today we are suffering the pain of a tragedy in our state, due to heavy rains, which caused the loosening of a wall of stones in Lake Furnas, in Capitólio. The Government of Minas is present from the beginning through the Civil Defense and Fire Department. Rescue work is still ongoing. I stand in solidarity with families at this difficult time. We will continue to act to provide the necessary support and support.”

AT CNN, Lieutenant Pedro Aihara, spokesman for the MG Fire Department, confirmed that one person died and said that the condition could progress to a second death. Aihara also said that there are between fifteen and twenty people directly affected by the incident.
