Research: Internet use among older Greeks is ‘taking off’

The use of the internet is increasing throughout Greece. According to the new edition of the Panhellenic Survey “Focus on Tech Life”, Greeks are becoming more and more “tech savvy”.

The research demonstrates the increasingly important role of the internet in our lives, as the participation of young people is almost universal, and online shopping is also on the rise.

Internet usage in Greece in 2022:

– Internet usage among the general population aged 13-74 reached 95% making the internet a “universal world”.

– In the last three years—in the midst of the covid/lockdown conditions—the use of the internet has taken off with a spectacular increase in the ages over 55, with an emphasis on the “silver age” of 65-74.

Research:

– 9 out of 10 Greeks connect to the internet from their mobile phone.

– 80% of the Greek public are users of Social Media … and women have a small advantage in engaging with social media (81% of women and 79% of men).

– 2 out of 3 (67%) Greeks have made at least one online purchase (last 6 months).

Focusontechlife research

– Online shopping is mostly chosen by the 18-54 age group.

– Accordingly, the use of the internet is also universal among young children of 7-12 years, while the use starts at an even younger age with 5-6 years showing penetration of 74%. Use is almost universal among 7-9 year olds (91%) and older 10+ year olds (96%).
