Argentine authorities are investigating the deaths of at least 87 patients in hospitals and health centers across the country, as they allegedly had been given medical fentanyl that was infected with bacteria. A lawsuit was filed by the Argentinean Organization of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) after being found by a Klebsiella Pneumoniae and Ralstonia Pickettii bacteria hospital in medical fentanyl – strong opioid – administered to patients. The deaths were recorded in hospitals in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe (Central), Formosa (northeast) and Cordoba (centrally), said Judge Ernesto Kreplak, who was entrusted with the case, said La Naci.
