A new study shows that people who live up to 100 seem to have a “superhuman” ability to avoid serious illnesses. Two major studies in the elderly in Sweden have found that the centuries -olds fewer diseases, accumulate them at a slower pace and in many cases completely avoid the most deadly age -related diseases – despite the fact that they live much longer than their peers. The study, published by an international research team, argues that excellent longevity is linked to a particular model of aging, where the disease is delayed or even avoided. The findings question the common belief that more years of life have necessarily involved more years of poor health.
