Research: Russian-speaking social media users mentioned Bitcoin more often than all other cryptocurrencies

Brand Analytics, which monitors media in the CIS countries, has made the top ten most popular cryptocurrencies among users of social networks in the CIS.

Analytical company Вrand Analytics
posted a report that presents a rating of 10 cryptocurrencies that are most often mentioned in Russian-speaking social networks. During the study, experts analyzed 2.4 billion public messages with more than 46.7 billion words, published in October 2021.

Brand Analytics applied clustering technology and thus found more than 600 name variations, including synonyms related to cryptocurrencies mentioned by Russian-speaking users in their posts last month. For example, in addition to the standard “bitcoin”, the Cyrillic spelling of bitcoin, statistics include words such as “cue ball”, “bitcoin”, as well as Latin bitcoin, BTC and other variants. At the same time, Bitcoin was mentioned more often than all other cryptocurrencies in the top ten combined.

The places in the rating are distributed as follows:

  • Bitcoin: 1st place – 4,415,200 messages;

  • Tether: 2nd place – 855,800 mentions;

  • Litecoin: 3rd place – 424,300 messages;

  • Ethereum: 4th place – 417,900 mentions;

  • Ripple: 5th place – 217,400 posts

  • DOGE: 6th place – 216,300 mentions;

  • Solana: 7th place – 196,900 posts

  • Monero: 8th place – 177,900 mentions

  • BSC: 9th place – 158,400 posts. (Obviously, the authors of the study are not very familiar with cryptocurrencies, the popularity of Binance Smart Chain was addressed to the little-known and already deceased cryptocurrency BowsCoin – approx. ed.);

  • Travala.com (AVA) (In the original Ravala, there is no such cryptocurrency. Possibly confused with Avalanche – ed.): 10th place – 122,000 mentions.

The authors of the study believe that the interest of CIS citizens in digital assets has not yet reached its maximum level. Brand Analytics analysts believe that Russia and the CIS countries have good prospects for the development of the cryptoindustry.

“There are thousands of different cryptocurrencies in the world, while only 600 assets are mentioned in the Russian-speaking space.”

According to a report by the World Gold Council, cryptocurrencies are the fifth most popular class of investment vehicles in Russia after bank deposits, foreign exchange, real estate and life insurance.
