An original experiment in the world of electoral science was done by researchers from the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) using three macaques to predict the outcome of the US presidential election, which will be held in November. At the center of the investigation are former president and Republican candidate, Donald Trump, and vice president, Kamala Harris, who is the candidate of the Democratic Party. According to interestingengineering the researchers are trying to determine if monkeys can predict the winner by looking only at the photos of the candidates. The experiment is based on the theory that monkeys look more at faces they don’t see as threatening, as looking into the eyes of a dominant – “alpha” – in their own society is considered a sign of disrespect.
