Residents of 6 communities leave homes due to rainfall in Salvador

Residents of six communities from Salvador were oriented to leave their homes on Saturday (3) due to the high risk of landslides caused by the intense rains that reach the Bahian capital.

The Civil Defense of Salvador (Codesal) called the Sirens in the communities of Mamede, Moscow, Nursery, Pottery, Royal Bosque and Sister Dulce, issuing a maximum warning to the city. Residents recorded in images the impacts of the heavy rain that plagues the region. See below:

Siren’s activation is part of the Salvador Civil Defense Preventive Plan Protocol (PPDC) for risk areas on days of strong precipitation. Codesal teams are mobilized in the communities, asking residents to look for previously defined safe places, such as nearby municipal schools.

According to information from Codesal, the accumulated rainfall in the last 72 hours in some areas of the city is already approaching 200 millimeters. Faced with soil saturation, Codesal reinforces the appeal so that residents of risk areas immediately move away from their homes.

The population is also advised to trigger the emergency number 199 in case of any sign of danger. Civil Defense continues to monitor the situation and assist in the affected areas.
